Bomboniere is the traditional small packages of sugar coated almonds that are given to guests at weddings.  Originally an italian tradition, bomboniere have now become very popular throughout the world.  The sugar coating is meant to represent the sweetness of marriage and the almond the bittersweet life.  Usually each bomboniera holds five almonds, although now most brides tend to mix 3 sugar coated almonds with 2 heart shaped chocolares wrapped in silver of gold foil.  The almonds and/or chocolates are usually wrapped in tulle or organza rounds and tied with ribbons.  You can choose from standard almonds, chocolate hearts and chocolate hearts covered in sugar icing.
